I'm a cyclist by trade but picking up running :)

Am I better off taking large strides or more short ones? I'm just over 6ft so I have long legs obviously but will it give me a faster time per km but tire me out quicker or actually use less energy?

He is almost 6ft 4 though ha and happens to be the fastest man on the planet so maybe he might be too high of a benchmark :)
