My friend has a 00 Rover 75 2 litre Diesel with high mileage. The car runs perfectly but fuel consumption has dropped from approx 45mpg to 33mpg.What might the possible cause of this drop be and what would need to be checked like injectors etc.

Change of driving style? My Rover wil do 45-55 mpg when actually being driven but because I spend a fair time just sitting with engine idling it drops to an overall 33 mpg

How are you measuring the MPG?

I take it your friend check mpg often?
    When did mpg drop?
A sudden drop can be sticky pads, low tyre pressure or a host of other things.

When was car last serviced? Pads done?

Handbrake binding at a guess, had it happen a couple of times, you'd never notice it.
