How's it going lads I've been thinking about running an electronic music night a somewhat different to the norm environment where one could possibly BYOB , I'm situated in Waterford and would like to do an event from earlier in the day (say 5pm onwards to 2.30 am or so) . I currently have some events coming up in the future in a club but this is a sort of different thing I want to do .. around 8 - 10 dj's or so , do the place up for one night only with some interesting decorum and so on ... any ideas anybody could fire my way regarding a suitable venue i might be able to procure , or any other ideas in general please feel free to respond . Hope to hear from some of you soon :)

I think the fact that such a limited amount of these events occur every year is an indicator of the potential market, if you overall aim is to break even / make money. As much as I'd personally love to see something like this. Personally I don't think the average Irish clubber is set up for a 5pm start and 2.30am finish. People can barely last 2 hours in Dublin city centre on your average night out. So I think you'd be better off with a mini festival of sorts, that said, the expenditure is far higher and you'll have licensing issues there.

I think Ireland is just a mess when it comes to things like this. I'd say find an industrial estate somewhere and tack out the biggest unit you can for a rave but your going to need planning and licensing, not to mention transport, sanitation etc etc. Outside of a club, things start to get really tricky really fast. However, there is a market for this if you can make it work and have the initial finance to bankroll it.

With crappy narcotics or none being taken at all perhaps this is true.
