Hey everyone, I recently bought a dell u2412m monitor from germany, it hasn't shipped yet but I know it's going to arrive with a german plug. So I'm planning on buying an IEC cable for when it arrives, should this cable have a 3amp or 5 amp fuse installed? Is there anyone out there who has this monitor that could tell me what fuse dell ship with it.

I don't have that monitor, but I'd be very very surprised if it (or any monitor of that size) pulled any more than 1A.
    3A fuse should do fine.

The tech specs tab tells you...

    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=04&sku=320-2676
    ELECTRICAL
    Voltage Required
    100 to 240 VAC / 50 or 60 Hz ± 3Hz / 1.5 A (Max)
    Power Consumption (Operational)
    38 W (typical) / 72 W (maximum)
Power Consumption Stand by / Sleep
    Less than 0.5 W

So Maki'd be right. 1.5A max when at american 110V. Halve that for our 220V.
A 3A fuse will cover you.
