Irish Cancer Society FREEFONE Helpline 1800-200-700 (09:00-19:00, Mon-Thurs, till 17:00 Fri) and talk, in confidence to a specialist cancer nurse. They can put you in touch with someone (ICS Peer to Peer Volunteer) who has been through the rollercoaster with Malignant Melanoma.

I lost my Godfather to metastatic melanoma January 2012. Although I do not know what it is like to have metastatic melanoma or any cancer for that matter, it is an awful disease and I have an acute understanding of the disease as a scientist and also the effect of the disease on family through my own experiences.

I lost a cousin 10 years ago to it - she had battled it for many years.

I am a 7 year oesophageal cancer survivor and would also say how great the Irish Cancer Society's helpline is - sometimes you can only say so much to family and need an outside perspective.

I find my cancer is a pain in the ass ( i don't have it there!). Instead of feeling upset, I feel really pissed off sometimes with it.
