A useful 1st step might be to post the make & model of your TV, especially if it's a recent model. There are quite a few TVs out there now with the ability to receive Saorview terrestrial &, UK channels via satellite. Most have some recording ability too.

Your approx. location would also be useful.

we have a smart tv and i just found about 150 channels from the tv itself but at the start we used uk as our country so we would have a chance of getting bbc but now we have bbc and no irish channels , do you know anyway how to search or tune them onto the tv?

The TV being 'smart' has no bearing on the services you receive off-air. Presumably it has a satellite tuner (& connection to a dish) if you have ~150 channels, including BBC? You're not paying a digital cable TV subscription?

To get free Irish TV via Saorview, you will need a UHF aerial connected to the appropriate input on the TV.

Only reason to choose UK over Ireland as country setting, would be if it's a Freesat branded TV (Samsung or Panasonic) as, using a country other than UK means you wouldn't get the 7-day Freesat EPG.
