spilled liquid. expensive keyboard repair?

I spilled some vodka on a Samsung RC520 laptop and left it in a hot press for a week, finally decided to bring it to a repair shop cause none of the buttons were working.

He had a look and says it's gonna cost €200 to replace it. Apparently the keyboard is made by Sony that's why it's so expensive to repair and that the "sensors" are gone too?

I've found replacement keyboards online for around 30 dollars but is that too cheap? I'd be able to replace it myself I'd say but what he was saying about these "sensors" is kind of putting me off doing it.

Anyone able to shed some light on any of this?

I am nearly sure the 510 and 520 keyboards are the same.You need to check for yourself

It's very easy to replace keyboard, is Your laptop working ? just keys not work? before keyboard replace laptop should be take apart and clean by Isopropyl alcohol, this service shouldn't cost more then €40, exclude keyboard which cost €25.

Download a service manual (google it). this will guide you on how to remove the keyboard.

With the keyboard removed, plug in an external USB keyboard and see how it works.

If it works ok, then a cheap keyboard will do the job.
