I saw on the RP yesterday some hotel in Waterford doing a deal for 3 nights stay to watch cheltenham festival...free RP & all that jazz
Just wondering has anyone done something similar?
have the few days off but not going over..I usually have the bets on & watch at home, might do something different

Heard of people doing something similar, never did it myself.

Seems a bit of a novelty. I wonder how many people will take up the offer?

I know a lot of local pubs would join up witha bookie and offer a Cheltenham ticket for €25 which gives you a free €5 bet everyday, a free pint and a bowl of stew. Stuff like that... as there might be a good few lads taking a good few days off work for it.

The Goat put "reserved" signs on their tables. Avoid

I've said it before and I'll say it again-go to your local bookies, bet with folding money, none of this on line mullarkey(on line betting is like wearing a condom, not quite natural)More than likely your local bookie will have a decent pub nearby. Fluctuate between the two. Lokk after the staff when you have a decent win and you will get all the info you need from them. Happy punting!!

Without trying to be smart, why back in your local bookies a horse at 8/1 if you can get 10/1 online? I'm all for supporting independents or whatever but only if they're best price.

Peadar Kearneys, Cassidys and the Dame Tavern are all good racing boozers

The Blarney Inn on the corner of Kildare/Nassau St is also a handy spot.

Just like they look after you when you lose a load of your hard earned cash, most behind the counter haven't a notion about horse racing either so very little info to be gained only the 'tips' given out by the local drunk who spotted a horse's name is the the name of a grandson

Ya can't take a sh1te in peace in a pub or bookies. I've made money on a bet while taking a sh1te at home in peace

Was in Ryans on Camden St last year for the Friday, decent crowd and they had a good offer on (free €5 bet, grub and a pint or something along the lines). You have a Paddy Power next door and a Laddies 2 mins away. Probably keep it local this year, Leonards Corner always has a big crowd for big race days.

Which brings me to the blokes who can't seem to go more that 2 hours without having to make a crap or having a big feed. I was walking to the Gaelic grounds last June and there was a fella ahead of me decked out like the explorer Tom Crean. He had a backpack full of grub and bottles of water. The minute he got in it was straight to the jacks for a dump. Whats that all about?
