    Hi guys

I want to get a car in september this year. Why september? I will get 10% discount, after being a named driver on my fathers car (earned outside of Ireland)

My budget will be around 3000e, what I'm thinking about is getting classic car.

What's insurance premium for classic cars? What about tax/nct? Is it a good option?

most classic policies specify that you must be 25 or over, have another "normal" vehicle as your daily driver and will be limited mileage, NCT will not be needed if the vehicle is registered on or before dec 31st 1982, tax will be 56e per year

To get a classic policy you need to have a daily driver already insured as the classic is meant to be a secondary car for weekend pleasure use usually with limited mileage. Classic policies are cq. €250 fully comp. and you need to be 25+.

The alternative is to insure the classic car with a normal policy which will obviously cost a lot more, if you get a quote at all. Many companies won't insure anything over 15 years now.

Thanks guys, I have to forget about classic car, I'm only 21 :)

So what's the cheapest company to insure my car new?

NCT exemption is 31st dec 1979. 1980 onwards need NCT
