So I have all of the above and was wondering just what can you do with a soft-modded PS2 with a HDD besides just playing games you've ripped? What are some of the unique benefits you get? Any way to play legal copies of NTSC games? That would be hella sweet. Not a fan of downloads.

I'm fairly sure it will play NTSC from the hdd

I haven't bothered using a HDD with a PS2 running FMCB because the ps2 usb ports are only USB 1.0. But I can confirm NTSC games on DVD-R work perfectly. One of the benefits is the GS Mode selector app when using a HDTV.

If it's a Phat type, you can use an IDE hdd in conjunction with the network adapter...tis lag free :) But agreed re the usb bus, it's too slow on the PS2 to bother with & makes cut scenes jumpy/loading times long etc

I have that setup. Just waiting for the thingy to connect it to my laptop and I'm good to go.

Some games are alright on USB. I played DMC1 and FFXII through it. Long loading times but that's it really. You have to skip the fmvs obviously.
