Do any of you try to squeeze a little extra eff out of your personal oil boilers, especially if they are outside? Don't go into too much details here on a public forum.

I usually give it a hug every now & then...

Got a fill the other day & the missus said the house seemed warmer since the extra oil in the tank & did it have anything to do with the extra fuel in the tank?
    Sheesh....

Plumber I know didn't tell his wife that he secretly fitted and hid an extra wireless room stat. and cut his oil consumption by 20%

I know Gary gets into his Speedos to service his & brings the burner up on a step ladder to change the nozzle.

    Hmmm....

Thread not going where I thought, but on mature reflection, that's not a bad thing.

I don't hug my boiler, but leave a big lump hammer where the boiler can see it. Works wonders. Seriously though, I got a WeMo a couple of weeks ago and have been making great use of it while keeping er indoors in blissful ignorance of my attempts to stop he turning our living room into a sauna

Belkin make them. It's a plugin socket that can be controlled over the Internet from anywhere that you have wifi, or any data connection. Through a free app on my phone I can turn it on/off or set timers on it. I can be watching telly with herself and turn it on or off without her knowledge.
    Bliss

Anytime she wants to look over my shoulder, I go onto the geothermal thread and that puts her off for months. ;)

A friend of mine put a smaller jet in his as his wife keeps the stats at 25 insists that the heating should be on for a certain number of hours morning and evening even if they aren't home.

Who was it that posted a few months back about talking to the boiler ?

Talking helps, a problem shared is a problem halved !

Problem is fuel consumption, talk to your boiler and see if the fuel bill halves !

Talking or even better singing helps cows produce more milk. I tried that when I was a youngster. Our cows must have been heathens, didnt appreciate it at all. Almost stopped milking. Frisians can be a bit uppity like that. Should have tried it on the Hereford...a much more refined breed altogether.
Still maintain that a lump hammer near the boiler works wonders though. :pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac:

I still don't know what the pacman symbol represents, but it looks
