Thornton hall - the most expensive vegetable patch in the country

    30million for the site

    950,000 to SIAC
150,000 To other building contractors and engineering consultants
250, 000 Costs to fungal co co
    13,000 for the OPW
    2,500 to electric Ireland
6,300 for site security (are the afraid someone will steal the spuds?)

Total bill for 2 years services 1.36million, despite it still just being a field. To recoup our losses the prison services are growing spuds....no sorry we won't see any of that as the money from selling them is going to 'charity' ;)

A surplus of criminals on the street because there are no prison places for them

I think they should start growing bananas there, we could do with some

That it was money well spent.
No doubt whoever spent it enjoyed themselves, don't begrudge.

Close down hospitals/schools and invest like this going forward.

My point being, they better be nice vegetables!

1.36 million maintaining this site for the last 2 years, I'd love to see the total cost since 2005. It probably would have been cheaper to build a prison

Could we force feed them the vegetables?

Yes we could and then give them cushy cells and hot showers.

Have you any idea what the cost of a spud works out at?

@ down on the farm, no it's outside Ashbourne. How much does it cost you to grow a few spuds on your farm?

Not too much the manure is free so is the water.
Just the price of seeds really

I'd say security for the field works out expensive though?

It's actually a secret underground base, just disguised as a potato field.

    I've said too much.

Cost of growing spuds is massive. Combine this with the surplus of spuds being grown in this country leads a lot of growers to sell spuds for near cost price, and some absorb the price of packaging.

They'd be better just giving the money used to grow the potatoes to charity.

    A vegetable grower died.

There was a big turnip at his funeral.
