"Reportedly spotted in Derry with a man in his late teens". The horror!

No need for flippancy especially when you have no idea of the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. There could actually be horror.

Athy girl found safe and sound. http://www.kfmradio.com/kfm-radio/local-news/missing-girl-located-safe-and-well.html

Hopefully the same result for the other girl.

Please can boards.ie not turn into the journal.ie , posting up missing teenagers every day. These same teenagers go "missing" every few months as can be seen by clicking on their name in the hashtags showing up multiple "missing" instances.

Ever wonder why rte.ie or irishtimes/independant apps don't post these "missing" people.

Jesus. These are just kids we're talking about.

Even if some of them did go missing regularly, is that not even more reason for concern?

I know that if it was one of my own younger brothers or sisters gone missing, and if we were trying to draw publicity to it, I'd be so grateful to have it on a site like this where it would get maximum publicity.

Maybe don't put "missing" in quote-marks until you're sure they're not missing... bad-ass and all as you want to look.

I have said it before and I will say it again. One of these days a teenage girl will go missing for real either lost, kidnapped or killed and nobody will take it seriously because of all these weekly teen runaways happening lately and most of the resources we have will be used to find another girl who will turn up in a few days. If they want to go off for a few days fine go but let your family know you're safe instead of having the Gardai and local volunteers wasting time out looking for them. I really hope the girl from Macroom is one of these teens who turns up a few days later but it has got to stop they are not only wasting Garda time but as I said above they are taking the seriousness out of the situation. I also wish the Gardai would charge these teenagers for wasting police time and costs.

There's no need for people to be so dismissive, and arrogant about it. But looking at all the info doesn't paint a particularly sinister picture. This girl went missing very recently also. I'd guess that where every turned up last month, is related to her current location.

Most news sites still have pages up saying she has been found.

Hmmm, perhaps you should start a thread about whether the over-reporting of missing/runaways will lead to more runaways?

It may not be appropriate to talk about it in this thread.

    Speak for yourself.

Sadly it is true though. The more this happens where someone goes missing only to be found safe and well a few days later, the less bothered the general populace will become.

Sad but true. A bit like the boy who cried wolf.

That's twice she has runaway in the last 3 months and decided to leave everyone think she was missing. She appears to not give a s*** about wasting Garda time.

She is friends with a few of my buddies of FB and having just checked her profile page, she updated it 6 hours ago.

She goes off and stays with other members of her family and then get reported as missing!

Stupid really and a complete waste of the Gardai's time

Glad she's okay but that IS a total waste of Garda and the public's time. There are enough real missing person cases.

Exactly, they're just kids, they may go missing 9 times and on the 10th something serious might happen, unfortunately they obviously have issues, so isn't good that maybe just maybe some Boards'ie might be there to help!:)

Since the girl has returned home, is there still a need for this sticky?

This should have never been stickied.

Missing person threads should not be stickied in a knee-jerk reaction way. Boards.ie is embarrassing itself through the ah missing person stickied threads.

I don't but the stickied threads are unavoidable, the titles anyway.
