Get yourself an SSD if you can. Minimum size you should get would be 120GB. Any smaller, and you'll regret it.

Also, your old RAM; is it DDR3 ?

A tiny bit over your budget but made significant improvements imo. Added a 120gb ssd, a better cpu cooler, a better silenced case and a better quality psu.

500w is plenty for an intel based single gpu system. Quality over quantity. Those xilence psus are terrible.

Most of the money was saved by changing the processor to the marginally slower i5 4440 and changing the 270x to a normal 270. The 270's are just a lower clocked 270x. Overclock it for the same results. Gaming performance will be virtually identical with this Gpu and processor.

    Item|Price
    Intel Core i5-4440 Box, LGA1150|€150.60
    Sapphire Radeon R9 270 Dual-X Battlefield 4 Edition, 2GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, lite retail|€158.73
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 1000GB, SATA 6Gb/s|€48.59
    Crucial M500 120GB SATA 6GB/s 6,4CM (2,5") 7mm|€58.48
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SB-Version Englisch|€82.72
Corsair CX Series Modular CX500M, 500W|€51.80
    Alpenföhn Sella - 92mm, AMD/Intel|€16.25
    Cooltek Antiphon Silver, ohne Netzteil|€63.18
    ASRock B85 Pro4, Sockel 1150, ATX|€58.46
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€707.80

-edit- Didn't see that you don't want to overclock. Go for the 270x if you want but it's not worth the price premium. You could get a 760gtx for a little more. I've overclocked 3 of the gigabyte r9 270 models to 1150mhz which is the same as that toxics boost clock but the toxic costs €50-60 more.

If you wanted you could drop the aftermarket cpu cooler and get a cheaper case to free up funds to get a 760gtx. The pc will be more powerful but also hotter and louder.

The only Advice I'd give is to go with BloodBath on this one. Its a solid build (as always) that he has given you and if you need/want to updgrade then it is easily done. As was already said, don't splash out on a 270x... If you want to get more performance in the GPU area then save a little more for the 280x.

Personally I'd tell you to get Windows 7. Its cheaper and if you're not accustomed to Windows 8's UI already then you won't have to adjust.

Ensure that no.matter what OS you get, you get it in English. Otherwise it can be a headache. English Windows 7 Home Premium

Double check if the i5-4440 can overclock? Otherwsie get a i5-4670k, imo. Please note that the "K" model is €16 more than the non "K" model, but the "K" model is unlocked, IIRC.

It can't but neither could the 4570 he went for originally. You would need a better cooler and a better z87 board then as well as a 4670k which is gonna push him well over budget for marginal gains in games.

He would be far better off putting that money into a better gpu.

Not that there's anything wrong with a 270. It's still going to run most games on high-max settings.
