    Hi All

I was suppose to have upc installed today for the morning appointment that i made 3 weeks ago. At 11am i called CS just to make sure everything was ok and I was reassured it was. By 1pm I was still waiting for the installers to show up so I called CS again and this time I got " if they have not showed up yet there is nothing we can do as we cant contact the installers direct just be patient and they will show up"

So I agreed to wait :( By 3:30pm still no joy called again and the same guy answered the phone this time i got " what do you want me to do like " really couldnt believe his response like they dont give a fcuk....

I was put to another department and the girl there was much more understanding  she was to call me at 4pm but im still waiting for the call... Is this the norm from UPC ?? the product is good but its only as good the team that support it.. Do they have a complaint phone number

Not sure what to do now might stay with Sky

It seems extraordinary that the HQ of any company are unable to contract their installers????

Grass isn't always greener, I was with Sky for a year and when leaving experienced the worst customer I have ever encountered in my whole life. Both companies don't seem to have a great track record in the CS department. At least you managed to get through to UPC!

Personally here in Dublin, I've been extremely impressed with UPC customer service (surprisingly so). My biggest problem was broadband connection dropping and speed issues which were random and extremely difficult for them to diagnose and fix. It took weeks to sort out and the problem reappeared a year later. However every interaction I had with CS on the phone and service reps visiting my apartment were always prompt and friendly. Now if they would only stop raising prices ;)

Also had very good service with UPC in Dublin. Not that it will help the OP much.

Was with UPC for years in parents house without a hitch, no problems, super fast speeds.

Moved out and back dealing with Eircom, after having to go through legal proceedings with them years ago.

I wouldn't recommend Eircom to my worst enemy. UPC everyday of the week for me. Anytime I've had problems, they've resolved them quickly and easily.

Look the simple facts are, the fastest and best lines in the country are Magnets dedicated infrastructure, which unfortunately is only available in certain areas. After that, it's UPC lines.

If UPC are available in your area, just get it. There is nothing alternative that comes close, and its typically cheaper aswell. Must be a case of taking stuff for granted. Take it from me, with UPC since they took over NTL (who I was with before after ditching Eircom) and had to go with Magnet using Eircom re-sale products the last year.

I'm moving just to get into an area that has UPC.

Every company and organisations has issues with customer service, the main and only point you should be concerned with is the product, and they don't come much better then UPC.

Also depends on what you use the internet for. If you just read web pages and facebook, a 3g dongle would do. I'm a heavy internet user. Downloading, uploading, streaming, gaming, the works. I move large files to and from my office, and speeds are everything for my gaming.

Few friends similar got Sky in and got rid of it as quick as they could. Absolute muck.
