Acer Aspire 5735z power issue

I have an Acer Aspire 5735z that originally was not powering up and not charging the battery. After some investigating, I ordered a replacement motherboard from eBay.

I fitted the new MB and the power LED came on as well as the battery charge LED, which weren't originally not coming on. When I power on the laptop, the fan kicks in and sounds like it's booting. However, screen remains black and laptop sounds like it restarts after a few seconds and then powers off completely with an audible click. AFAIK the AC power cable has been replaced.

I've tried pulling the battery, removing the AC power, holding power button for 30 secs and then trying to boot again but no luck. Anyone have some more troubleshooting tips?

This could be that the processor isn't seated correctly or the BIOS isn't compatible with the processor you have. I've seen this before on Acers.

Bought a replacement reconditioned MB off eBay.

However, when I fitted the new board, laptop was initially starting up but was then shutting down. Turned out to be a faulty RAM module. Worked fine with just the one good module in it.

Refitted the old MB and tried both RAM modules individually but laptop was still not powering on at all.

So in the end a replacement MB sorted my issue.

(Edit: One "Computer repair" company wanted €120 just to diagnose the power issue.) Better off getting a 2nd hand MB.

So shall i start with RAM first ?? I am getting same issue....on off on AC power but no display or HDD activity
