Called out to a boiler this evenin that had sooted up. It's a popular 150 old type non condensing boiler that had replaced a rusted out popular 150. He said it had been replaced few months previously. Problem is that it is fitted with riello 40 g10 boiler instead of a g3b Can dis be sized down wit a change of nozzle and oil pressure to suit 150 boiler or wud it be best to try contact the hardware who supplied the burner and see about a replacement burner. Thanks in advance

Off the top of my head I think the G10 only goes down to 170/180,000 btu. I could be off there though

The burner is seriously over sized it should be a G5 sized and setup to requirement

Cheers lads I may see wat the hardware he got it from says. Burner and boiler cost 500 so strange they didn't realise their mistake with the more expensive burner

€500 for the boiler & burner seems extremely low. ??

Normally boiler and appropate sized burner are supplied as a package with burner set for mid way output.
ie. 120-150 BTU boiler normally comes with burner pre set for 135,000 BTU output.

Plumbing supplys supplied the wrong burner and should be responsible for mistake. In my humble opinion.

I am always amazed that customers/plumber would try to save a few hundred ( I know its not small change ) on the cost of a boiler that will cost a few thousand extra in fuel over the life time of the boiler !

I also thought that building regulations for the last few years didn't allow SE boilers unless exceptional circumstances existed.
I'm open to correction on this.?
