Hi, applying for a graduate visa for nyc and thinking of heading over around may 2014, was wondering is anyone in the same boat? Have a degree in sociology so not sure just yet what the job prospects are!

Manhattan itself? Jobs are thin on the ground and rent is expensive. I mean, really expensive if you want to live on the island. Best bet is to check out the J1 forums here, will give you a sense of the place anyway (Even though I know your looking for something more permanent) You'd want to do your job searching before you go and hit the ground running.
