I'm looking for a large blue baseplate for a current project, however they don't make them at the size I need anymore (I need 48x48 studs and 32x32 is the biggest now).

I'm trying to find a doable work-around, however the 32 stud plate is too thin to extend with smaller plates, and using all smaller plates would be costly.

As such I am wondering three things; (a) does anybody know of any sites that do custom plates, (b) if there is a way to colour Lego effectively with spray paint or the like, and/or (c) if anyone has any other ideas?

And and all suggestions and discussion is welcome.

Buy one on something like bricklink - http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=7&itemID=824

If you enlarge the image on any of those lots you will see that those are actually grey base plates being advertised as blue with a bogus thumbnail to boot. Very dodgy stuff. Or at least it looks that way anyhow.

I _think_ the larger image is from the catalog entry: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4186

So perhaps the items just have the thumbnail?

Looking at the listings, it seems this part is included in the 10234 Sydney Opera House kit if you wanted to go that direction: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=10234-1

Yeah when you compare the codes they are the same so maybe the larger images are just incorrect. I suppose there's no harm in contacting the seller to try and find out for sure first.
