Corsa head gasket gone?

My 1.2 corsa C is not starting to great,
It was turning fine but it was like the imobilizer was still on, plenty of power in the battery just didn't catch. Then it did catch and the rev counter wasn't working and the car/spaner light was on, stopped checked oil and water, put bit of both in and it started ok and rev counter was working and light went out.
Then went and left it and went into town, came back and same thing, plenty of battery power but wouldn't start, looked under bonnet at battery connections, got back in car and it started. All fine. No warning lights on and rev counter working.
Just went out to it now, it's started but took a moment bit longer then normal. I took the oil cap off while running and lots of air is coming out, like it would nearly be hard to keep your hand on it. Is that normal? Is head gasket gone?
How much would it be to do head gasket on one? It's a 00 but has less then 80,000 miles on it and only passed nct about a month ago. So might be worth doing if it is head gasket?

Motors is to House like headgasket is to Lupus.

By that I mean it's not the headgasket.

id be looking at something like the crank senosr...have you read the fault codes?

The crank sensor went before actually and it was a similar ussue, didn't want to start, sensor went about a year ago, would something be causing it to go again so soon?

I couldn't remember which car it happened to before, the trouble with having owned 15 or 16 cars. But it was this one, cheap fix compared to a head gasket!

There should be a code stored in the car so start by getting it read, and a quote to get it fixed. Then you can decide if you want to have a go at it diy.

I looked up a how to on youtube, looks easy enough, so I ordered a part and I'll give it a go. Shouldn't be to hard to but in, just awkward to get at is all. Well more how wants to lay on there back in this weather, but if it gets it fixed by me for 20 euro, I'll save few bob and be proud I did it myself!

if head gasket goes usually car loses coolant first and overheats due to no or low coolant,if very bad and gasket was gone cylinders may get water on top of piston causing a clicking and not turning engine over because of hydraulic lock.
breather hose on that model are more than likely stuffed or collapsed with excess pressure on oil cap.

how long ago did the car get a good service as people dont remember its winter time car is at its most stressful ,wipers ,lights, blower, rear window demister all running.

I suppose it's a year since I serviced it. I should at the very least do the oil/filter and maybe coolant too. IT doesn't get used that much since sept, probably not good for it to be let sit for 5 days.

as greasepalm says...clear out the breather...these cars get bunged up with crap

Will do, I've not cleared it out in a while actually. Cheers for all the replies people. Mature student needing the diy approach.

one thing those corsa engine 3 cylinder engine i think do need a regular oil and filter change as paper oil filter breaks up and oil light comes on.

    It's a 4 pot 1.2 litre.

you mean a 4 cylinder engine.

I sure do I was using some motoring slang. I bought the part and found where it goes, but it's far to tricky for my not so great skills to get at.
