Basically signed up to get a land line installed to my home in early December. Require it where i Live to get broad band, another provider that I had upped sticks and left without any notification. Great as my wife works from home two days a week or used to. Eircom ring me on the 8th of Jan. to say a Tech will be out to me on the 11th. Tech rings me and quotes my address, sorry that's not where I live, okay what's your address tell him and he can't come out to me as I live too far out from town. Okay, 5 mins later a second tech rings me quotes another address, again wrong, same story too far out from town but will sort this out for me and will ring me back with new appointment. Ring Eircom on the 15th and my installation is down as complete. Sorry but I don't have a land line, we will send out an engineer to see what the problem is. I'm 100% I don't have a land line so no need for engineer. Okay whats your address ? This is now the forth time I've been asked this. Sorry can't find this on the system. My neighbour has a phone so give them his name. Perfect we have you now on our system and will set up new appointment for 10 days time. hang on a minute why that long? Because your address was wrong, but It wasn't me that got it wrong I have received letters from you and the address is right. Sorry sir that's how the system works. I wait 10 days nothing, ring again another person, none of my details on the system have been changed from previous phone call. I will fix it now sir and someone will be out in 10 days. No, no not again okay sir we will prioritise you. Tech phones me yesterday can't find my house. Give him the address I had to change to suit Eircom system can't find it on Sat Nav, give him my original address okay sir we have you now. i was down for an all day installation they show up at 3:30 can't do job as they don't have a hoist. Sanctominous b******s . Ring today 45 mins on the phone give them my number assigend by Eircom showing as dis-connected on system . no wonder their share price bombed.

Customer service has gone to **** because companies (or should I say accountants in companies) have realized that its so much cheaper to fob you off than to actually send a person out.

My 68 year old mother had broadband problems recently and they kept sending her out new routers, DSL splitters etc etc. Sure she doesn't have a clue what they are or how to operate them. All she needs is someone to come out and set everything up so that she can just turn on the laptop and be on the internet. Rant over.

I went to my sisters to have a look at her Eircom broadband... I contacted Eircom support by phone .. after many phonecalls I got nowhere..even after telling them what I had checked time and time again.. anyhow emailed and i got this wonderful email back stating that they are aware that I have a problem and that problem consists of a technical problem. Typical.. anyhow a friend of mine worked in Eircom at the time.. I sent her the mail and it went viral within Eircom.. all the staff laughed at it.. in the end an Engineer had to come out and sort it.. but that was weeks after. Seemingly even Eircom know how sh*te their customer service are... best of luck! you gonna need it!!
