Am going to view a private sale 2007 1.6 petrol Focus at the weekend.

Has 80K klm, 1 owner from new with a full Ford service history.

Have done a search on here and google and doesn't seem to be any known issues that I could find.

Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for? Also what would be a reasonable price for a Ghia spec?

Ghia models don't fetch that much more than Zetecs second hand. The less demand for the 1.6 over the 1.4 levels out against the extra spec really.

That model Focus is pretty reliable. The most common problems with the petrol models are the alternator, if it's the hatchback then make sure there is no water leaking from the rear windscreen wiper into the boot locking switch located in between where the number plate lights are located. Not a big fix but can be annoying. Power steering pump can also give problems on this model. Make sure all the electrics work too including the quick clear front windscreen. Ghia style alloy wheels are very prone to corrosion and easily mark making them look old and tired.

If you are happy the car is straight and you can agree a price then go arrange for a mechanic to give it a once over before handing over any cash.

    Thanks bazz.

Is very limited choice of 1.6 petrol Focuses and don't want a 1.4 as the consensus is they are under powered. This one, even with the Ghia spec was cheaper than Zetec ones.

Is there anyway to check the alternator & power steering or best just to mention to mechanic?

Not a lot I can do about the alloys I guess unless I change them for Zetec ones.

Regarding the leak, if I bring a bottle of water and pour it over where the rear wiper is attached to boot will that check for any leaks?

If the car is straight, what do you think is a reasonable price?

Whats the owner asking? is it a hatch or saloon?
going by the average price online, Id say about €5,500 for hatchback or €4800-€5000 for saloon
I have a 2007 focus 1.6 diesel. I used to be in a top spec 5 series bmw and I haven't regretted swapping yet! hassle free motoring so far!
    Best of luck
