Which album do you think is better?

I've seen a few debates around the internet and most were in favour of stillmatic. Personally I think God's son wipes the floor with stillmatic.

To be honest, they were both very forgetable albums for me.

But I didn't listen to either much as after the first few listens I pretty much gave up on them...much like alot of Nas' discog.

I should really go back and listen to them, they were released at a time when I was a much bigger snob than what I am now. At that time I was really just listening to anyone who was independant and was never heard of.

Only listening to both of these the other day, had to take songs from both albums to make one banging one. Both has great tracks and both has doo doo.

Stillmatic has One Mic so it wins automatically. Easily one of the best tracks Nas has done.

Stillmatic for me. If this was stripped down to 9 or 10 best songs like Illmatic it would be incredible but as it is it's diluted with too much filler. Same for a lot of Nas albums

Gods son - but barely. Take out the 2pac feature and I would probably pick stillmatic as it is just a more compact album.

One of the highlights of Gods Son. The beat is so eerie ..a great track!!

You could pick songs from both albums and make one class album, both have some hit or miss tunes. This is my favorite song from the two. Really clever.

and you cant beat a premo/nas collab

God's son for me, very good album. I actually appreciate it a lot more since i think conor said it could arguably be up their with illmatic as one of his best a while back here. Now i dont think its comparable to illmatic but imo it's his best effort since, its made it as one of my spotify playlists too for the simple fact it can be played from start to finish.

One of my biggest flaws with nas is there's a lot of filler on his albums, the usual 2 or 3 bangers followed by utter rubbish. For me illmatic and god's son are the only one's he got right from an album point of view.

Life is good was a decent album too, a lot better than his recent albums the last few years.

Get Down is an amazingly good though there was a lot of weak stuff on God's Son.

Some weak stuff on Stillmatic too, but i think the lows were lower on God's Son

I think Stillmatic has a more complete style on it. God's Son has a lot of deviations from the overriding style but Stillmatic sticks quite closely to it's one.

You're Da Man and What Goes Around are probably the best tunes from that era.

  • I love Rewind on Stillmatic, and of course Ether.
