Would you sell your car for what you paid for it?

So if you've bought your car relatively recently, would you sell it again for what you paid for it? Or have you become attached to it? And are happy with it?

    Either way, what's your car?

Got my car a few weeks ago. It was my first. If i was offered what i paid for it now i'd turn it down. I've grown attached to it and think I know whatever is wrong with it. And am happy with it.

    It's a 02 corolla hatch.

I'm not to sure. I probably would sell it if someone offered me what I paid for it. Although in saying all that I would get close to what I paid for it if I stuck it up on donedeal anyway although I'd be down all the money I've put into it. Hard to know. My last car I sold for over 1k profit and at the time I thought it was great but I've since seriously regretted selling that car although its always easy to see your mistakes when you look back. The grass is always greener and all that.

Nope, nothing else out there that remotely excites me inside that budget (B7 S4 etc)

I'd sell mine for what I paid for it.
It would be more to do with me than the car.

    Good question.

Ask me again when something expensive breaks :;)

Yep, I haven't lost money on a car in years :) in fact I've gained on every single one so fare except one where I broke even. And that was an E36 coupe last year.

I paid €4,350 for my 2004 Rav4, and I wouldn't sell it for any amount of money to put into a new car (that's assuming all I could do is spend the money on another car. Obviously if i could sell it for 10k, I'd just buy another one and pocket the difference).

As far as I'm concerned that version of the Rav4 is the best looking car on the road. There's nothing else that really grabs my attention when I'm driving about. Toyota (foolishly) changed the look of the Rav in 05 or 06 and it's only gotten worse since then. New one looks horrendous.

So on aesthetics alone I can't see myself changing it anytime soon. Only thing I equally like the look of is the Hilux, and it'd be completely impractical, so I'm thinking I'll be sitting happy in my Rav4 for a long time to come.

Top it off with it being very comfortable, giving good seating height and not really having anything wrong with it, I don't think I'd sell it for what I paid, nor would I sell it for anything reasonably above what I paid. :)

    Gladly.

The question is, would some **** pay that much for it?

Old cars don't depreciate though once they reach 10-12 years old. Their low value is based on condition. If something major fails they go to salvage. Obviously if polished up and running well you can get more than your money back. Try that with any new or even 5 year old car. Good luck! 20% loss per year on the reducing balance is the norm.
And the answer for me is no, I bought a 9 year old car and its now 12 years old and going strong. Should easily do another 12 years looked after:)

I paid €20,000 for my Audi A4 back in 2002. I'd accept that now :P
