    Hey guys,

A bit out of the ordinary here, but I'm a dental student in 4th year and this summer hoping to head off on elective to either Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia or Thailand.

Does anybody here have any advice or experience of electives out in these areas?

If you do, could I ask where you did your elective?

    Both to be honest!

Looking to actually get some useful experience over there, especially regards extractions. Always wanted to see Vietnam and Thailand as well and it'll basically be the last chance to go with friends from the class and this is the one area we could all agree on

i asked about an elective when i was in 4th year, hoping that i'd be able to go to somewhere in east africa. it was suggested i'd see more interesting stuff in king's in london.
if i were you i'd just go and enjoy the holiday.

If you can afford to live there for a month, try Tufts in Boston, amazing place.

Yeah, the problems out there were one of things we were worried about, but it seems in Thailand that the trouble is mainly "organized" with protests in big cities away from where we'd be doing our work

Also I know the girl who wrote that piece and the people who went there, they said it was well worth-while

The problem with visiting America or the UK is that we get no hands on experience, which is what we're looking for, but proving difficult to find at a decent price
