Just a quick query , myself and my partner grew up in Meath all our lives.
Have proof of addresses and all that , from both our parents houses. My question is how far from either of our parents houses eg. Miles can we look to acquire a site to still qualify as a local needs application.

By way I grew up in an council estate and my partner in the countryside. Is this relevant??

Your urban/village based , so I'd assume your partner will take the lead on the planning application. these things tend to be site specific, so pick your site and approach the planners.

The new batch of planners in Meath have their heads screwed on. Arrange a pre planning meeting with them and they will advise you correctly. Pay heed to what they want and you will be fine. How far are you currently from this area as they will look for evidence of you currently immersed in that locality like children in schools, rental etc etc etc

I have a child in the local Irish school and I coach in a boxing club in the next town nearby .

So should I set up a meeting with a local county councillor or take a visit to the planning offices in Navan?

My main question is how far can I go in the area to qualify for local needs. Does it work by parish or ten mile radius from your parents home?

Furthermore our bank details have never moved from our parents home which I've heard helps.

Id suggest meeting the planners first and get their thoughts, maybe just apply normally then use the locale reasoning if things get sticky...ie save it in your amoury.
