Lady Gaga & her marketing team

This woman must have the best marketing team in music today , before anyone gets on my back and starts the 'Gaga is amazing , how dare you insult Gaga' etc yes she has a couple of decent song's but she really is annoying as hell , the 'fashion' crap and everything but people just seem to lap it up like she is some sort of god.

It seems a huge number of gay people are obsessive about her or is it just me. I know a lot of my mates who are gay go crazy for her music/concerts, is that the general way of it?

From what I see she became huge very quickly and her marketing has got her there mostly. It's almost like they sat down and decided how to get at the market.

    A. Straight women - get them with the music , clubs , dance etc - yes that will work for majority.

    B. Straight men - Won't really work as she has a face like the back end of a bus. They won't go see her in concert as willingly as say...Rihanna.

    C. Gay women - Not sure what the status would be here, maybe as above?

    D. Gay men - Huge market , won't care about her looks, promote the **** out of it.

And then she goes and openly supports gay right's etc, releases numerous gay referances and support song's etc(Born this way)...am I being cynicle here or does it all seem like a bit of a marketing ploy rather than natural occurance?Do you think she actually gives a ****?

Can't straight men and gay women like Gaga's music? Or do they only like music of people you define as good looking?

I'm a gay man and I think she's a bit crap nowadays, most of my friends don't bother with her either. She had something going with Fame Monster but after that it was a bit of trying too hard.

Yes, we congregate in the gay bars for our gay meetings and decide gay things and say "OK lads, from here on out, Lady Gaga is the thing - just...yell about her even if you don't agree".

Of course they can, I'm just questioning why she is particularly popular with the gay market, is it her music? Or her words/opinions on gay rights etc?

I question how much of what she says and does in genuine and how much is just an act to gain popularity in certain circles/sales.

Modern Pop music isn't about the music because to be fair 90% of it is dire, it's all about how outrageous you can be on stage and how many column inches/pictures you can get in daily rags. Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber etc, utterly talentless but you cant go a day without seeing their mugs somewhere, fcuk knows what they sing!

She seems to appeal to younger people in that however weird they think they are she's way weirder. Whenever I've seen her on tele in an interview she promotes that idea and it's the basis of her marketing campaign. I don't get her at all, I think she tries too hard to be as far out there, while not really being out there at all. If people enjoy that it's no skin off my nose, but her type of mass marketed music is part of the reason I just don't listen to music radio anymore.

I don't like the genre of music she's in to, but she's a damn talented artist. Have a look at some of her acoustic stuff on YouTube

nothing wrong with chasing the pink pound, it's been done for a long time now at this stage and will be going on long after we're gone

It's kind of promotional material for an institute Maria Abramovic is starting up. If you look up her name you'll see her other notable work, where naked men and women pleasure themselves in the rain. ;)

Nah, I think Maria is a profound individual, even if some of her art goes way over my head and into the stars.

Excellent info ,thanks for that. Are the meeting's compulsory? or is there an opt in function, what happens to those that don't comply with the new regulations, are they cast out or put to death?

Oh, that's insider stuff, I wouldn't be allowed to disclose such sensitive information. If you're interested, a man in a fabulous pink cloak will be in contact soon.

Who bothers me more is Beyonce and her men-are-bastards shtick.

Super, I'll just pop out to the shops and buy all Lady Gaga's albums to make sure I'm ready when the time comes..

Good point actually , her music definatly has that vibe to it but when you see her in an interview she seems a little softer, so probably a marketing thing for women.

Where as Pink? Well it's both sides of the coin there , she seems like she'd take your head clean off for merely possessing a penis..

There's a fair bit of talent behind the hype and glitz. People who know their stuff were seriously impressed when she was making her name in NYC, long before the marketing machine kicked in.
She's nuts of course but that doesn't make her good stuff any less good.

All mainstream music nowadays is marketing. It's a product now more than ever.
You can apply the marketing mix with it's 7 p's to it. It even has a shelf-life.

Marketing in music is nothing new. David Bowie was doing much the same thing in the seventies. He was a one hit wonder (Space Oddity) for years until he dressed up as Ziggy Stardust and said in an an interview that he was bisexual. He did have great music but no one would have paid any attention to it if he had been wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

Anyone who promotes a message of tolerance & acceptance of people who are a little bit 'different' gets my support.

A lot of bullying out there, and she's done quite a bit to help victims I think and highlight bullying as an issue.

When has Beyonce ever said she has a problem with men?
She just wants women to be considered equal and have equal rights.

As usual, wanting women to be treated equally to men means you hate men. YAWN.

    She'd love to be Bowie.
