    Hi

I am currently attempting to build a website for a small business and need to add a blog page ..(not wordpress etc.) I have found a few articles recommending using PHP which I have no experience with ... does anyone have suggestions or links to a relatively simple solution.

    thanks

Writing your own blogging software is not going to be easier than using something like WordPress, especially if you have no experience developing.

    OP, what about this one:
    http://dotclear.org/
I use it for a last 3 years for a self hosted blog. It's very simple.

Without fail, its *always* the people who don't want to use wordpress who are the EXACT people who should be using it.

    + 1

JFlah, WordPress is the relatively simple solution.

There may be obscure solutions that are a bit easier again but you wouldn't have anything like the resources available to you for support, hosting, additions, themes, plugins......

If this is your first site and it's for your own business, you may be better off looking at one of the site builders. Squarespace, Wix, Weebly.

    Thanks for replies everyone.

I already use wordpress and am reasonably competent in HTML and CSS with a little javascript, I was just hoping to use something besides wordpress I'll keep thinking about it.

    thanks again.

This one is still in development but it looks promising:

If you're looking for something that doesn't require a back end, this looks good for the mac:

    Can I ask why?

What are you hoping to get/avoid relative to WordPress?

Good question actually ... the more I think about the more obvious just using wordpress is becoming.

You could use any blog and just pull in content under your domain using a rewrite?
