Triax Tri-Link

I fitted one of these yesterday for a friend to make use of a Sky Multi-room extra receiver split betwen two rooms, replacing an ageing Sky sd receiver which was using "magic eyes" I got it all working (modulating and sending the picture to the second room tv) except the infra red seems not to work, so no remote control from the bedroom. The set up uses a bi directional link amplifier/distribution box which works perfectly with the old receiver/magic eye, and has given faultless performance for about four years. I picked the Tri-Link given Sky's thoughtful omission of a modulator and RF2/9v output on the new boxes.
Does anyone have any ideas why it might be that the infra red seems not to work with it? Or any tips to make it work? Thanks.

It's a new Sky box, no rf at all, let alone rf2. The new boxes have no modulator, that's why I got the Tri-Link

Sorry I misread your post. Did the ir pad supplied with the Tri link not work when attached to the front of the Sky box?

    No, it didn't, unfortunately.

I t looks like the Tri Link is faulty as I fitted one for a friend last week without problems. This was as a result of my own experience with one for over a year now.
Admittedly in both cases the ir pads were attached to the front of a Humax box.

I fitted one these recently, you must be very exact where you put the pads on front of box, it didn't work for me initially but I had someone at the telly in remote room while I moved the pads around until it worked, by the way the sky( I forget what it's called) one is far more user friendly and easier to instal

Would have been better to use an I/o link instead of a Tri-Link in my opinion however what type of amplifier are you using? Was it powered by the sky box originally or does it have its only power supply?

The trilink and the newer I/o links do not generate enought power to drive an F140 amplifier and the need for a power supply or amp that can plug in is necessary.

The amp I used is a mains powered Wolsey 6 way bi directional. Very good bit of kit.
Anyway the point is moot now, I changed the magic eye from the original (Triax eye) that had been in use for some time, for the one included in the Tri-Link kit and now it works perfectly.
Thanks for the help and pointers, much appreciated.

Update - the IR link has failed again, so I guess it may be a faulty unit.

Strange I've never had any fail on me and I've used about 50 so far.

They maybe moved the box, set up one of these for a a customer who got it through the local electrical store, they had asked for an io-link, anyway the placement of the ir-blasters are very sensitive on a SKY box, took a lot of fiddling to setup, expect to be called back to this soon and have a io-link to replace it,
