    Hi

This might sound stupid but i think i passed through the toll before xmas, i'm not sure though but i forgot all about it until recently and obviously on the chance i did pass through it i definitely haven't paid the charge! I haven't heard anything from them anyway yet so i'm unsure of what the situation is, i've heard stories of people getting no word of unpaid fines for months only to wind up with hefty charges eventually sent out to them or threats of being brought to court!

Just wondering is there a way to check if i have passed through and not paid before it gets out of hand! I cant find anyway to check on the eFlow website just ways to pay!

This is the problem, it is ridiculous that they provide you with no method of checking if you have unpaid charges but yet can hit you with a huge bill out of nowhere without warning for an honest mistake.

    Hi SpaceCowb0y,

If you travelled between Junction 6 and Junction 7 on the M50 you would have passed between the tolled section on the M50.

If you would like to private message me your car registration number and the name and address your car is registered too I would be happy to have a look at your details for you.

Due to Data Protection concerns it is not possible to check online how many trips a car has made on the M50.

You can register the vehicle for a free video account here on eflow.ie https://csc.eflow.ie/newaccount/newaccount.aspx that would allow you to keep track online if you travel. With the free video account you are charged 2.60e if you travel and there are no additional charges associated with the account.

Please private message me if there is anything I can help with.

    Kind Regard’s,
    Maureen

Hello, if you made the journey yesterday and then register for the eflow video account, can you avail of the lower charges for yesterdays journey?

Also if I've passed through it a few times but am not certain now many, will registering an account tell me how much I owe, or will I only know for future journeys?

    Hi nd

If you register for an eFlow account, any journeys made in the last 14 days will automatically transfer to your registered account at the lower rate. You will be able to see your outstanding balance online after you log into your online eFlow account.

How would you suggest it work? Anyone can enter anyone's licence plate and see what they owe? Huge DP breach.

Is it? I can sit next to the M50 and have a camera recording who goes past if I like. Journeys done in public are surely public information.

I have gone through M50 in the past without registering in their system and I've emailed them a few times saying I couldn't remember if I've paid or not so could they please tell me if I have or not. They had no problem letting me know if I still owed them. :)

Its a reasonable expectation of privacy.

If I wanted to know if Nermal was on the M50 tomorrow. I'd have to get planning permission to set up my camera. Install the system that monitors 4 lanes in a variety of weather and traffic conditions. Then write or buy some software that can capture the number plates etc.

You'd pretty much have to have the same sized operation that Eflow have.

You want to compare that to doing something as easy as a google search?

Having had enough experience with E.Flow and bills, I can assure you that they are not too slow about sending out the penalty notices for not paying your toll fee.
The first one usually arrives within a month or so from the missed payment.
The best thing to do is phone E.Flow on 01-4610011 give them your reg and they will tell you if there are any outstanding payments due.

Sorry for digging this up, but I'm unsure how much I owe for a toll that I passed through last week. I used to have a tag so I never had to worry about it (and the beep let me know whenever I passed under it).

Is it still not possible to find out how much I owe through the website? I have to head to a job now and the eflow phone lines dont open until 9.30am

if you read above, if you create a video account, any journey from the past 14 days is allocated to the video account at the reduced rate.

I understand the privacy concerns, but if you have a system that charges people money, won't tell them how much they owe, then fine them if they don't pay that unknown amount, then you have a bad system. I don't care what excuses you have. This is about the dumbest possible system I've seen in a long time. Shame on you.

There are signs everywhere telling you to pay the toll. If you don't see them you are driving without due care and attention.
Anyone who drives in Dublin should have at least a video account (which is free) so they can check their own account.

As a new visitor to Ireland, I found myself routinely circling back to missed exits in some places around Dublin. I wasn't always sure whether I crossed the toll line or not, because a lot of my attention was on not crashing into other cars. I expected a simple method of determining what I owed and did not find one. And anyway, are you telling me it is a good system?

It's common in many cities to have road charging by cameras and all have a similar system. The onus is on the driver.

and having lived in a number of large cities, there was always a way to determine what you owed. Not so here, and so my opinion that it is a terrible system.

    Can you give examples?
