Hi there, we just had a composite front door fitted from superior doors in limerick and we're delighted with it. We had the whole lot done including the side light glass panels and frames.

So any other experiences of composite doors.
I'm looking for something to help insulate house, block out sound and provide better security. Just want to get the best price and not be ripped off.
Could anyone share prices or quotes?

    Hi,
I should have said that security reasons is probably higher than sound proofing and insulation as a reason for getting a composite door. I have good windows and insulation in attic. I'm in Dublin. Can you recommend anyone or have an idea of price?
    Thanks

go with triple glazing windos, we recently had our front, hall, and bathroom windows replaced with triple glazing as well as a composite door, very happy with them. Huge difference on sound and heat, our back windows were replaced 3 years ago under insurance but only replaced with double glazed. Regency did the work for the new windows and doors, happy with the quality from them

I've also been looking at them,
    http://www.compositedoorstore.ie/strong-doors

however I wonder about the video they show, most of the competition don't use that foam door unit this compares too. It seems most sites have a video of one door being smashed in while their door stands up to huge abuse. I'm finding it difficult to find a site that sells the rubbish composite doors at this stage:).

I'm thinking strongly of getting one of these myself, I like the way I can just price it all and select the panels and get a price. For me with one side panel it looks like about €1850 all in.

It looks like their glass is all tipple glazed anyway, I wonder why there is no insulation over and above air in the pockets though. The doors are listed as 65mm, many others are 70mm, I don't know if this makes a difference.

Thinking of going with the Palladio Door too. Just wondering how do they compare to the price of a hardwood door and a upvc door?
    Thanks.

Very low u value with the palladio door when compared to wood or pvc.
Also its a much stronger door than wood or upvc.both of those doors can be smashed in very easily with a swift kick or a smack of a sledgehammer. You wont smash in a palladio door unless you ram it with a car or jcb.Palladio doors without side windows or side glass panels are supplied and fitted for around 950 euro from various glazing companies and window companies.

Being asked privately about my fitting last year. Couldn't be happier with the whole process. Fitter in Dublin was independent and very good, great tidy job. Also the door was immaculate out of the same factory others use. one year one the door is still a pleasure to open/close.

Also the Home Renovation taxation was done straight away.

Did you get windows done too? I went searching for info on a grant, I'm changing a front and back door, and found nothing.

    Hi,

Looking for some feedback on a quote I just got for a Palladio door. It’s €3k inc. VAT with two sidelights either side of door, with triple glazing in the side lights. They’ll take away old door and re-plaster. 15 year warranty on door. (Incidentally, they’re also saying that this is 40% off normal prices which according to this – means the total cost would normally be €7,500!!)

Anyway, discount aside, does €3k seem reasonable for this? Also – does anyone have any experience with DK Windows and Doors in D12?

3k seems going rate for those doors. a relative got one of them installed, just door and frame, I don't know what price but was below your price.

Don't mind that sales rubbish that you are getting 40% off, that was spew to hook you into signing up for the door.

I was getting quotes of 2600 to 3k for composite door with 2 sidelights. Got a price from dk windows and they were the 3k quote. Try airtight or C&S in lucan as alternatives.

Well look see there's no standard composite front door going in for 7500. That's just horse...

You need to balls up and bargain with the sales person. You will get a couple of hundred off a 3k price you just need to be more salesy than the salesperson.

    Act the bollix basically.
