gtx 760 would handle your monitors (or 1080p) no problem in most games for around 210-250 euros depending on brand.

gtx 770 is around 20% faster, currently selling around 280-330 euros.

gtx 780 is quite a bit stronger than 770 but it would be over 400 for the cheapest.

Anything beyond the 760 you might find you are CPU limited. Not too familiar with AMD cpu's so I'll let some of the other regulars see what they think. What's your goal? Are you upgrading your monitor or sticking with current resolution?

That's a strange mix of parts. Where did you get that pc?

That cpu will bottleneck a high end gpu and sadly there isn't really much better alternatives on that socket as it's intended as an APU platform.

Basically you would need a new board, processor and graphics card.

On a budget of 300-400 I'd go for these.

    Item|Price
    Intel Core i5-4440 Box, LGA1150|€158.85
    ASRock B85M Pro4, Sockel 1150, mATX|€58.79
    Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 WindForce 2X OC, 2GB GDDR5|€161.24
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€397.87

there a mix of different parts i,ve had lying around, it works away nicely @ 4.3 mhz, dont really fancy building another pc so soon, just think its about time i uograded the gfx, i don,t really have a prblm with running prgms and games on this system at the moment.

i,m not too up on my cards so i,m curious about the bottlenecking by the cpu

    thx for the replies folks

Bottlenecking by the cpu means that your new super-fast graphics card will be sitting around waiting for the PC to hand it stuff to do. Once you are bottlenecked by the cpu, upgrading the graphics card won't improve your gaming framerates.

the pricing of the Nvidia 600 vs 700 series seems strange to me.

For example, I was checking on amazon uk earlier today, and a gigabyte 670 2gb oc card is selling for £340. (I paid about €360 for one of these about 18 months ago from hardwareversand), while the gigatyte 770 2gb costs £252 and the 770 4gb version costs £297.
So anyone with a single 670 card planning to get a 2nd identical card for SLI purposes has to pay more for the older card.

Yeah, I noticed that even a couple of months ago. Would make more sense to either sell and upgrade to 7 series or buy another 670 used for SLI. I wonder who buys 670's at those prices.

I wouldn't bother getting anything better than an R9 270 with that processor. You're wasting money otherwise.
