starting soon I want to start training using hills as Booterstown Road to Deer park is about as good as it gets for me from home. With a car and Southside where are the better (off road) routes? and 10-15km will be more than enough in length. Crone wood and the end of the Wicklow Way near Marley Park are the two that come to mind. Any others?

I'm particularly fond of Carrigologan and other stretches along the Dublin Mountain Way. Also check out the IMRA races (website seems to be down), which will expose you to a wide selection of different hill runs around Leinster (and further afield).

You have what seems like an unlimited amount of trails around the Three Rock area and you can head over to Tibradden and Cruagh from there.

Irishtown nature reserve for a 1k(just shy of a k) trail hilly loop. Good for reps if youre alone or doing a few loops as part of a long run

Magazine hills - great for 1 mile intervals and perfect strength for the legs!

I like Bootertown to deer park on a long slow run, also putting some extra strength into the legs.

Marlay park up to 3 rock aswell for a long run is really good..

Heard Howth is class but havent been that way in ages..

funny you mentioned that, sandymount to the lighthouse is one of my staples but never considered doing rounds of the nature reserve, it would certainly work as interval training. And Yep North Ave up to Deer park is a goo workout.

cheers thats a part of Dublin I don't know so well so looking forward to checking out Rathfarnham way, ill only be able to manage the bottom half of the route for now but will check it out.
