Was over at the meeting tonight in Portlaoise and discovered a nice little loop-hole in their milk contract re the length of the contract, in my situation I only have a three year lease on the milking block/facilities albiet im renting of my father, so I asked the question how could I possibly sign a 7 contract when I only have a 3 year lease and would this mean you would refuse to collect my milk/penalise me for not signing the contract, the reasponse was they would still collect my milk and I wouldn't be penalised.
So basically with a bit of creativity re setting up companies/supplying milk in a third parties name theirs numerous ways to avoid signing the contract if your working-off "leased ground"
They weren't happy campers when it dawned on them there was a get out of jail free card in their contract

What other terms are going to be in the contract?

They where giving very little away, some of the main points where
    ● they see liquid/winter milk as an inconvenience and they aren't going to be paying top dollar for it.
●with the bellview plant milk quality and scc is going to become a major issue but when asked about having bonus schemes for producing this milk they ruled it out.
    ● If you break the contract switch suppliers they will issue legal proceedings look for compensation.

That's about the jist of it wasn't really filled with confidence leaving the place.

They don't want liquid any more. Still want winter. But no contracts will be increasing and new ones won't be given

    NO

ask your solicitor would he she let u sign a contract with no mention of price u could have to supply at a loss
would gii sign a contract to supply milk powder for seven years with no price in it

Interesting question at the meeting in ballinabolla last night.
Farmer asked if a farmer increases 3 fold the levies on his milk will increase 3 fold as well.
Question was that there should be a cap put on the levies if you supply so much milk and beyond that no extra.
Board said they would take it on board

There's no prayer of that happening. The boys who get that cash are already rubbing their hands at the thought of it.
