Sony Vaio BX series keyboard driver

Doing a clean install of Windows XP on a Vaio vgn-BX195VP . Not using the recovery partition as the original install of XP is full of Sony ****e bloatware that wud take a day to remove and always leaves remnants that slow the laptop.

I have found all the drivers for touchpad etc. on Sony's website but not for the keyboard.

The keyboard is working but fn keys to control screen brightness and volume etc. are not working.

I have tried all the various drivers on
    http://www.sony.ie/support/en/product/VGN-BX195VP/updates
but no go. I've even tried drivers from the Sony's USA website.

Hardware Id = ACPI\PNP0303 ( tried a dell driver also but no go.)

    Any help appreciated.

You might try one of the driver updater programs, e.g. http://www.uniblue.com/software/driverscanner/ - if you use that one uninstall it after as it likes to autostart

it does , but the fn keys wont work . the screen is really bright and i need the fn keys working to be able to turn the backlight down a few notches.

Vaio laptops seem to need a sony created service running called "vaio event service" to get the brightness and volume gets working. the mind boggles... obviously sony are too lazy to create drivers for their keyboards.

i wudnt touch a sony laptop after this experience. Really, really poor performance, dreadful responsiveness from keyboard, noise from the fan would wake the dead, gets boiling hot for no reason ( had to remove battery to allow some air into the laptop), dreadful, dreadful laptop!...
