    Hi,

I'm just wondering has anyone any experience spraying or painting a club? I'm thinking of doing it to my Rbz 3 wood. Would anyone know what type of paint I'd need?

Certainly something best left for a professional to do I'd imagine. Drivers are made with a lot of balances in mind so I'd imagine there's a very high risk of damaging the club by doing a DIY job on it.

I've never painted a wood but have fixed the numbering and other areas of the club. A bit of acrylic paint and sealed with lady's clear nail varnish. Got the tip from another forum and only requires a touch up every now and then

I've done it, painted a ping g15 matt black. Worked a treat but it was a lot of work. Masking tape the face, sand paper the area to be painted from rough to fine grades of sand paper. Clean it with IPA and spray it with about 3 or 4 light coats of halfords spray paint.

Very very important to let it dry for about 2 weeks. If you use it before that it'll crack and chip the paint.

    Turned out very nice!
How hard wearing is it? Did you lacquer it?

Read a good bit on how to do it on golfwrx. Google is your friend, they have loads more detail on how to do it. After each coat it needs a light sanding with the finest paper. Turned out class, had bought the club second hand so it really transformed it. My friend bought it off me, still has it. No extra finish on it really apart from the 3 coats of paint. As I said, once you leave it dry out for the week or two once it's sprayed then there shouldn't be any problem with it

Here's another photo, hardest part is taping it up.

I would experiment with Plasi Dip. The advantage with this is that it's a rubber based product and if applied in a couple of coats, it can be peeled off without damage to the club. The petrol heads use it to spray alloy wheels or even whole cars. It's cheapish stuff at less than €20 for a spray can.
