Hi I am looking to upgrade from my 2005 Saab 93 Tid Vector sport to either a mazda 6, insignia or mondeo. Hoping to go for a 2010 car.

    Just looking for peoples advice.
Alot of cars I have seen have been uk imports ex fleet cars I presume and they all tend to have around the 100k miles on them with full service historys.

What do you think with regards the higher mileage! does it really matter considering they all have full service historys?
For example my 2005 Saab 93 only has 93,000 miles but has given me quite a bit of hassle!

Let me know what you think tnx ;)

If the histories are comprehensive then I wouldn't be worried In the slightest :)

if your 9 year old car has only 93k I'd seriously consider looking towards a petrol, and you'll have your pick of them in this country.

What type of driving do you do/miles per year?

Hi funnyclub. Sorry to hijack the thread but I am interested in buying a Saab similar to yours. Good selection on DD and carzone. What kind of problems have you had? If you have spent money on it would you not be better off keeping it?

As long as there is a service history all should be ok. Most of them high milers spend their lives in motorways, so 90% of their time is spent in 5th and 6th gear, meaning they aren't constantly going through 1st and 2nd (city driving) which diesels hate. If they are a motorway car, then it's traveling on the best of roads, not little potholed country roads, which isn't good for the suspension.

When I 1st got it it had a traction control error on start up garage thought it was the CIM unit fitted a 2nd hand one didnt sort it. It turned out to damaged cable in the engine bay.
Well it needed a new flywheel and starter so I did the clutch at the same time just a few weeks ago.

To be honest I am only looking to change as I want to move into the cheaper tax bracket and just have a newer car. Its a nice looking car with a lovely interior. You more than welcome to have a look at mine if ya like ;)

    You'll be grand so!

Though'd you'd had it years and didn't do much mileage. Just be weary if you're buying a high mileage car and covering a decent chunk of mileage it will be a very high mileage car in a short period of time and hard to unload. If you plan on keeping it until it dies then it's not so much of an issue.

Its the 150bhp one. The flywheel wasnt totally knackered but it was effecting the starting and just wasnt running as well. Could of got a good few miles more out of it but i wanted it running right. Also the garage that fitted it told me they do a lot of saab and vectras at similar mileage!

    Im based in Westmeath.
