Power Adapter For Laptop

    Hi,
My question is about power adapters for laptops. there are normally 2 parts to the power adapter. The first part is what I believe is called the "AC Adapter" and this has a "black box" and a fixed cable for connecting to the laptop's power connector.
The second part contains the plug and the connector to the "black box" mentioned above. This connector is normally a three point connector in a triangle.
My question related to the second part. If I am away on the continent, can I use ANY local power plug (i.e. the bit that connects from the wall power socket to the "black box") without any fear that I will blow up my laptop. What I mean is the power plug part of a colleague in Portugal's computer fine to use for my laptop?
Apologies for the non-technical language, but I hope you get my meaning.
    T

As long as the back say input 100-240v you should be fine as is the AC Adapter. Your friends cable will work with this in Portugal as long as the connectors are the same. Other option is to get a travel adapter for your current plug.

NB this assumes you at all times are using the correct AC adapter for your laptop.
