Hot water from central heating?

    Hey

    Was wondering could someone give me an idea? Below is stopcock beside the cylinder in the house I just moved into. When I turn on the heating the water gets extremely hot but the house is not overly hot. Someone said to me to turn this off and it would mean the heating would then just heat the rads and not the water...I use the immersion for heating the water

    Would this sound correct?

    Turn the red valve completely closed the open it 1 turn that will stop the cylinder taking to much of the water and slow its circulation pushing more hot water to rads.

    Looks like that valve will help get the heating working better.

    The comparative cost of heating with the immersion compared to gas or oil are significant. have a look at the comparative costs report on the SEAI web site, if you're running the radiators, then there's no saving at all from using electric to heat the water, unless you have night saver option on electric.

    In the summer, it helps keep the rest of the system working to use the boiler for heating hot water only, and it's still cheaper than using the immersion. During the summer months only, open the valve on the cylinder a bit more, to allow more flow through the hot water cylinder.

    It's hard to be sure from the pics, it looks like there are some other valves on those lines, and they may mean you can isolate the radiators or the hot cylinder using the yellow handle lever valves, for summer/winter settings, but without knowing which pipe is the supply from the boiler, it's not possible to be 100% sure.

    Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

    Leave the wheel head / balancing valve alone and close the bottom yellow lever to switch of rads in the summer, top yellow lever isolates hit water
