    Hi
Just about to purchase this and jusy wanna make sure I'm buying something half decent. I am buying it with the cycle to work scheme.

I will only be using it for 10km each way to work and the occasional short spins.
Haven't cycled in about 10 years.

Suspension forks are dead weight and give you no benefit on a bike that isn't ready for technical trail riding. Disc brakes might be cool and there are a bunch of nice looking rigid forked disc brake hybrids around.

If you've no intention of riding off-road frequently, I'd definitely get the bike that robertxxx linked to. It's designed purely for riding on-road and it'll really show in terms of speed, comfort and ride quality.

You'll be grand, just hit that balance between using the bike and not putting too much pressure on yourself. Enjoying it is the key.

Also resist the herd instinct to follow the various idiots you'll see jumping redlights, squeezing inside HGVs at the kerb etc.

Cycle defensively, i.e. keep aware of what's going on around you, if you're not sure of what another road user is going to do, slow down and give yourself more time to react to their crazy decision.

Enjoy it man, the Rapid is a ninja commuter.
