Unlimited 3g/4g broadband?

Currently I have very bad Vodafone broadband, I get 3 megabytes maximum and it's useless for most things I want to use it for. 3g internet is much better, and 4g is likely even better than that. Only problem is, I've looked at most providers and they seem to only provide 60gb per month at most. And I steam a lot of videos, so the bill would likely end up being very high. Is there any company that offers unlimited 3g/4g broadband in Dublin?

Thanks for the reply, I've heard they offer unlimited broadband, though, I've assumed that was just from people who don't use the internet very heavily and have the 60gb plan. I've checked there website and can't find anything mentioning that, though it could be a deal that they only offer after negotiations with them. So I'll go into a 3 store and ask, nothing to lose. Anyone else got any suggestions if this one falls through?

Its unlimited for Phones, not dongle packages and its throttled after 15Gb or so.

OP 3G/4G arent suitable for full time use, they're designed for light usage on the move. Where in Dublin are you? Most places other than outer northside can do better than 3Mbps.

Thanks for the reply, I know initially when 3g broadband was introduced it was aimed for light usage on the move. But hasn't that changed? Considering they even offer routers with ethernet ports. As well as large data caps aimed at people who use the internet heavily? I'm living in Tallaght. I had UPC, which was good and fast. But my bills were constantly higher than they were supposed to be with no explanation(unlimited bandwidth, no phone plugged in), they refused to do anything about this, so I switched to Vodafone, who told me I'd get up to 70mbps, despite the line only being capable of 3mbps, which they told me after I'd already signed up. I'd rather not switch back to UPC, for the reasons above. And as far as I know, there is no one else in the area that can offer internet without using the Eircom lines, which Vodafone use and are only capable of 3mbps. Hence the reason I'm looking to 3g/4g. Do you know of any other options there might be in my area? Thanks.

Yeah, UPC is fast, but it isnt cheap.

Your line could be so long as its only 3Mb but I'd be sceptical. Tallaght is high density as are the surrounding areas so you shouldnt be that far from your exchange. Id say its more likely something degrading a line that should be better.

Get onto Vodafone tech support and have them check it all out. Also see if any neighbours have DSL(Eircom voda or sky) and see what speeds they get. Yours should be similar within a margin of error.

Ask the lads over here also to check speeds etc and see if you are in a fibre enabled area http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1270

Sadly the problem with UPC isn't the fact it's expensive, it's their overcharging me for no reason, it was supposed to cost me 52 euro per month, but UPC were charging me 80/90 a month for some reason, which I would be willing to pay, as it's way better than what I have, but my problem is the fact they were overcharging me. I'm not in a fibre enabled area, I've gotten onto both Vodafone and Eircom and both have confirmed that my line can't get any more than 3mbps. I suppose I'll probably just end up going with 3, as the 60gb allowance will be enough provided I don't stream HD content, which I can't do with my current connection anyway.

You're speaking to sales departments. They read a number off the screen. If your line is currently in bad condition that number may be lower than it should be. Im not saying it is, but its worth having it investigated.

Have vodafone run a line test on the phoneline to make sure its up to standard.

You would be absolutely mad to go for 3g/4g over UPC.

3g/4g are absolutely not suitable for heavy usage like yours. Three unlimited has a 15GB cap which they then throttle you to unusable speeds when you pass this.

You can get UPC 50mb BB with unlimited usage for €37 per month (€25 for the first six months). You would be much better going back to them for this.

As for the problems with UPC overcharging, it would have been better had you come to forum first and post you bill details (excluding private information obviously) and we would have helped you figure out why you were being overcharged. UPC are typically very proactive in fixing pricing errors when pointed out and also offering big discounts when you threaten to leave.

I'd have to concur with some here - if you can get UPC, stick with them... €52 / month for the 200MB "Unlimited" package over beats 60GB, at most with THREE, on 4G ANYTIME.

I'm stuck with just mobile broadband options currently though unfortunately.
