Personal Injury

    Hi,

I was in a bad accident last year and both my feet were broken. My treatment is still ongoing on one foot and I have another operation to get in March.

My case is currently with the personal injuries board but I haven't met with them yet.

I have to pay my solicitor soon but a lot of my money is going on medical expenses. My Health Insurance doesn't cover everything and I'm now starting to struggle financially.

I have a credit union account that I rarely use and have never had loans, savings etc it in. Would it be possible for me to get a loan to me through until I receive my settlement and use this as collateral?

I have been told this is possible but I can't find any information online. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated on any options open to me on what I can do to help my financial burden until I get a settlement.

    Many thanks.

Would your solicitor not wait until you get a settlement? ? I would have thought this would be standard practice. A friend of mine is a solicitor and that is how he works, he doesnt bill the client until they have settled then just takes it out of that momey

    Thanks for the reply.

I don't have to pay them in full but I'm looking at around €2,000. The rest of the fee will be paid from the settlement.

It just isn't the solicitor. I live in Donegal and I am being treated at the Galway Clinic. Each appointment is costing me around €250/300 with consultant fee, petrol, food, child minding etc not to mention my partner having to take a day off work to drive me.
