Right, this is a huge dilemma for me.
It'll be interesting to see right now, after assessing all the players thus far, who would be your strongest 11 and formation!!!

    Mine would be...

    Hugo.

    Walker - Kaboul - Vertonghen - Rose.

    Sandro

    Dembele ---- Eriksen
    Townsend

    Ade
    Soldado.

Not even sure if thats my strongest!!

Want Lamela and Paulinho in there too!!! Dont know what it is about Pamela!!!

    In the ideal world ;
Lloris Walker Kaboul Jan Rose Sandro Dembele Lamela Townsend Eriksen Soldado

In the real world ; (who's fit and on form)
Lloris Walker Daws Jan Rose Bentaleb Dembele Eriksen Lennon Townsed Adebayor

    Harsh on Paulinho ?

Don't get this bentaleb love..real world fit and on form Sandro and Paulinho are ahead of him. He's a reserve player like hudd and Livermore. My theory is once that clown sherwood is gone in the summer we won't see bentaleb again

My first eleven when all fit:

    ....................Hugo......................
    Walker.......Jan......Kaboul.......Rose
    ...............Sandro......Dembele........
    Lennon.............Eriksen........Townsend
    .......................Ade......................

Just looking at my team after typing and it shows how badly we spent the 100 million.

I'm far from Sherwood's biggest fan but the lad Bentaleb has done well the last 6 weeks.

Well he certainly hasn;t looked any worse than some of the big money buys. That Paulinho is very average considering the money that was paid for him. As for Lamela he's beneffiting from the "Bunje" effect. Invented by a friend of mine in 2002 noted that the longer Goran Bunjevčević was absent from the team the more people rated him :D

    Anyway back on topic!

    ....................Lorris......................
    Walker.......Verthonghen......Kaboul/Dawson*.......Rose
    Lennin....Sandro......Eriksen ..Townsend
    Dembele
    Adebayor

Kaboul is turning into the new Ledley King (fitness wise) I can't see him being fit enough to play week in week out.

    Agreed.

Too much change too quick? Or players not up to standard.

ok so some people may not be Sherwoods biggest fan but there is no need to start calling him a clown. Look at the points he has accumulated since AVB was sacked.

Was at the Palace match a few weeks ago and Bentaleb was the best player on the pitch. For a kid so young he is doing a good job, Sherwood is giving him experience (something lots of posters constantly give out about) and just because he didn't cost 15m doesn't mean he is not a good player. I hope Sherwood lets those players who did cost us a fortune know that its about time they started living up to their transfer fees.

    ok back to the topic

    Lloris
Walker - Daws-Chirches/Kaboul - Vert ( don't care how pissed off he is, we are a better team with him there instead of Rose)
    Lennon - Bentaleb- Paulinho-Dembele- Eriksen
    Ade

Let the midfield interchange so Dembele can get forward sometimes as Eriksen drops and Paulinho can still make his runs into the box.

If we're picking a team in an ideal world based on what we know they can do, then I'd go for....

    Lloris

    Walker - Kaboul - Vertonghen - Rose

    Lennon - Sandro - Paulinho - Eriksen

    Lamela

    Soldado

How bad has Lennon been the last few weeks? His turn of pace and effectiveness is all but gone!

awful, he was good for about a month and has vanished again

Think Lennon needs to be dropped - we have too much talent on the bench to be accommodating him right now.

    Our best 11 when fit

    Lloris
    Walker Vertonghen Chiriches Rose
    ----Sandro Dembele
    Eriksen Paulinho Townsend
    Adebayor

Lennon has been an absolute disaster in the last three games, offers nothing. He'll have the odd good game, we'll all rave about him. He still can't cross the ball or shoot, time to pack your bags.

so sad how our 2 record signings hardley get a look in

both looking like a scandalous waste of money

Indeed Soldado all out of confidence, awful pity and if we bite the bullet, we'll be lucky to get half the money we paid. Lamela is one we'll have to wait on and hope the potential comes through. Maybe a good pre-season, better handle on the language etc and he'll be better (clutching at straws I know).

Sickening when you look and the money City paid for Negredo and the return they are getting.

Seeing Defoe come on Sunday made me sick when he out the gap next week and it could have backfired on sherdinand!!!!...soldado should have came on. He must be shot to pieces seeing Defoe come on before him.

Soldado needs a run in the team ASAP. No point in spending 26m and keeping him on the bench.

He was just brought on to get a run out as it was his last match in front of the White Hart Lane crowd. I'm sure Soldado understood the significance.... even if you didn't.... ;)

No room for sentiment when were chasing top 4..it could have back fired that's all

In fairness sentiment may not have been the only reason, JD was more likely to stick one in than Soldado. The Spaniard could not hit a barn door at the moment.

Soldado is a quality player. I have no doubts he will come good. Needs a run of games though.

He can't score if he doesn;t get a run but he;s not gonna get a run of games as long as he's not scoring. Bit of a chicken and egg situation ;).

Hopefully as soon as he does get a few minutes he bags a goal.

Defoe was hardly gonna do something foolish and result in an equalizer from Everton.

It was the right move to bring him on. One of our all time top goalscorers deserved the respect of 10 minutes in his last home game for the club.

Will never forget the first time I managed to make it over to WHL. Redknapp was just after coming in as Spurs manager. First game against Portsmouth since switching. Cold January day. 1-0 down in second half. Defoe gets the ball at the edge creates some space and sends a screamer into the corner.

Fantastic ambassador for the club. Deserved those 10 minutes above any other striker.

Though, in fairness, I would have preferred if he came on for Ade. Going two up top when you're only 1-0 up is madness!

Yeah it is daft, but I'd rather not risk upsetting Ade with his current form

Who did he come on for again? Was it Lennon? Was no loss in midfield if so.

Exactly, and he should have brought the ball in to the corner rather than shooting late on too ;)

Might get loaned back next January after we've sold a Soldado whose scored 3 more penalties...

Shame it wasn't his last game :D

I used to scream from the from the hills that one Sergie Rebrov would be our best player in a decade. More worryingly for Soldado Rebrov had flashes of the player he could be.

I also don't think a player with Soldados stats can just bomb overnight but like jobeenfitz I'm starting to worry he's going to be another Rebrov

I said this months and months ago got piled on for suggesting it... I don't get any satisfaction in being proven right.

I would absolutely love for him to turn things around THIS season leaving us with two strikers banging the goals in.

Paulinho, Eriksen and Soldado to hit form in the closing 12 games and I can guarantee we'll finish top 4. The chances of that happening though are slim to none.

Not to mention a return of Sandro would be great too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

If two of the four (including Sandro) can hit form I'd be a very happy man.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭mushykeogh

I still think soldado is class, shame his confidence got shot to bits playing as a lone striker. If one could deflect off his left testicle and into the net it just might be the boost he needs!
Even 4 or 5 in the last 12 could be vital if Ade keeps banging them in. Eternal optimist!

Maybe a spell in the EL may help Soldado get his confidence back?

yeah but its not that long ago that he got an EL hatrick and the nex couple of EPL games he was poor ... And then dopped.

Id like to see him get a proper run of games in preseason and then start 3-4 games in a row.. If he didnt produce then we could try off load him before the end of the summer transfer deadline.
