Don't know if this is right place for this issue . Got dampness inside porcelain tiles in shower , removed tile grout and renewed grout using water based supposedly waterproof grout-same problem again ,some one suggested it should have been sealed if so, how is this done and what product is recommended. bottom tiles are issue on all 3 sides, they dry from top down. btw there was no lip in shower tray and its waterproof ply behind tiles. thanks for help

same tiler did shower for me, using a ready mixed grout that had a powerful whiff that would knock you,a couple of years back, that is not available now, but it never allowed dampness penetrate, probably VOCs was issue with that product.

If you have no seal around Shower Tray then I suspect what your experiencing is capillary action taking place.
You will need to remove the bottom row of Tiles. Clean off all adhesive from ply and allow to completely dry. Apply a coat of PVA 4:1 ratio allow to dry.
Fit a Sealux Shower Seal around the Tray using clear Silicone ( it sticks much better than coloured) under the edge on the top of the Sh Tray and back of the Seal.
Apply a 2nd coat of PVA neat. Then when is tacky and nearly dry fix the tiles back in place and allow time for them to dry. Then regrout. That should cure your problem.

Thank you . I doubt if half that was done first day. There is a seal but im not sure if it's a shower seal, tried drying it using heater and de-humidifier for a few weeks and it dried a little from top down, that's what made me suspect grout didn't think of capillary action of water and I suppose a seal not fit for purpose just adds to woes.
