Yes, it's another "what box should I get?" thread :) Currently have a branded Freesat box which works just fine with the previously installed Sky dish and cabling, but want to add Saorview to this. Is there any box out there that gives proper full listings for both yet, or is the Arriva 150 the best choice at the minute?…

Yes, it's another "what box should I get?" thread

Currently have a branded Freesat box which works just fine with the previously installed Sky dish and cabling, but want to add Saorview to this.

Is there any box out there that gives proper full listings for both yet, or is the Arriva 150 the best choice at the minute? I'd rather consolidate into 1 box than having 2 seperates, but I don't want to spend much more than about €100. Does this box give only now/next info?

The Walker WP645TS-HD Saorview Combo in satfree mode provides listings for both Saorview and the FTA UK channels but in different epgs I believe - http://www.tvtrade.ie/blog/how-to-download-install-tune-in-satfree-on-walker-wp645ts-hd/

Where it says:
You can record a UK channel while watching an Irish channel
You can record an Irish channel while watching a UK channel

Does this mean you can't record a UK channel while watching another UK channel and likewise for Irish channels?

You will require an external hard drive for this STB to record etc. Following on from that, should you wish to view these recordings on a computer you won't be able to. Obviously if you cannot view them you won't be able to copy any of the recordings onto DVD. I purchased two of these boxes last year and to my dismay, and after much delving, discovered that this.

Therefore if viewing outside the box etc is important to you, my advice is DO NOT BUY this STB.

DVB-T usb stick(s) and DVB-S2 PCI or PCIe card(s) in a PC (USB sticks from about 8 Euro) with a DVD recorder. But DVD video doesn't support HD or MPEG4. So really you need a BD player and BD recorder if you want to avoid the quality loss and time penalty of re-encoding.
