    HI All,

I just got myself a Jobo CPE 2 and Im looking to process more slide film.

I have some rolls of Fuji Velvia but also saw this Rollei film in the photoshop.ie. The price seems very reasonable.

What is your impression of this film? How does it compare to the more expensive Fuji offering? Is it easy to process using the Tetenal pack?

    Thanks

    VC

Contact Peter, the guy who runs thephotoshop.ie, he's always good for info. If he's tried it he'll be able to tell you more about it.

Trawl through APUG for people's experiences with it.

    Search flickr for examples.

    Thanks Daire,

I did look through online and there isnt a whole lot on it. Couldnt find much in particular with processing with a rotary.

    Ill drop Peter a line.

Any personal experience with this? I had one roll developed in Photocare which came out pretty well.

I know you recommend the Fuji Press kit 6 bath, but how about the Hunt one? Also, last one, do you know where in Dublin you can pick up the nitrogen aerosol to increase the shelf life of the chemicals.

E6 is expensive, if i let the chems spoil

Never used it, I guess it's just bog standard E6 though so it should process the same as other transparency film. The Fuji Press kit is the Hunt one, 'Fuji Hunt' is the subsidiary that distributes the processing chemicals, their press kits are the 5L C-41 and 5L E6 one. Never got their E6 one but I'd swear by their C-41 one. I get them in photocare on abbey street, I ring them up and they add them to their next order and I collect them, it's not something they ordinarily have in-store.

That spray stuff dunno, only ever got it online. Last one I may have gotten from thephotoshop, 'tetenal protectan'. It's just a mix of butane and propane though so you might be able to find that in a hardware store as filler for soldering irons or something, or wine shops sell some stuff as well that might be suitable.

    Great, thanks for that Daire.

I was thinking to get the Tetenal E6 kit just to try it out, but its about 42€ for a litre versus about 80 for the Fuji 5L.

If i go for the 5L think ill follow your advice on a previous thread about using it 500ml at a time.

Are you using a processor or inversions?

Just a straight 2 reel paterson tank so inversions. Where are you getting the Fuji Hunt kit for €80 ? Ring photocare on abbey street or gunns and get a quote. The last time I enquired it was nowhere near that but that was a few years back.

Ill drop into Gunns tomorrow. The e6 kit costs more than the c41 as far as I know.

But it still represents good value compared to the Tetenal kit. Although that is dependent on me not making a balls of it :)

    Ill try photocare too.

I've used the Tetenal kits, both E6 and C41 with good success. This was on Provia (I think) done with the E6 in the bath...

    No big deal actually...

    Thanks Aidanic. Nice pic

Im set on doing E6 its a matter of cost now I suppose. i dont shoot much colour but so the 1 litre C41 kit looks tempting. Its a lot cheaper than the E6 one too.

Let me know where you end up getting it and for how much. I have a huge pile of E6 in my freezer at home that I'm gradually using as Xpro, I should probably do it justice and put it through the correct process :-D

I have to admit that I've allowed most of a 5L E6 kit expire in the cellar, mainly due to lack of time in the past year, and no deep freeze to keep it as DQ does.

I've been a bit more precious with my E6 chems, and maybe a bit too much.

On the C41 side, the 1L kit goes for as much as 20 rolls, and lives a bit longer that you might think when made up and used. You are going to have unexpected outcomes the older and more used the chems are, but it's all part of the fun really.

My new year resolution was to shoot more film... so far... zero shots.

I just use protectan on the opened concentrates. I suspect that trying to keep chemicals in my freezer would be a quick route to an acrimonious divorce :) My C-41 kits have lasted up to a year after opening them. Part B I think of the fuji hunt kit is the one that oxidises the worst so as long as that's still reasonably translucent (and not black and opaque) I continue using it.

    Hi Daire

I got the tetenal 1litre for 42€. The c41 fuji hunt kit is 48€ as far as I remember. It's the 5l mix.

Slide film is expensive but I think I just need to shoot off a roll cut it up a bit and have a few test runs.

I couldn't find the tetenal protect spray in Ireland. And other places won't air mail an aerosol. I'm gonna try using marbles.

Hi VC, I have not used the Digibase CR200 Pro film so can't comment on personal experience. However I have heard some users say there is a slight yellow cast but this can be corrected with filtration when exposing or in photoshop etc.

It certainly won't have the same quality as the Fuji transparency films but at nearly half the price its represents excellent value. I sell a fair bit of it and have had no complaints.

    Hope this helps.
    Peter

A lot of people are cross-processing this film in C41 chemistry with interesting results.
