    Hi,

weird thing is the email was in my junk and was blocked my my email thing, when I clicked it it wanted all my card details. . which Paypal already has anyway?

Anyway I didn't enter them and I opened paypal in a new window (directly typed www.paypal.com ) and nothing unusual comes up. . nothing at all in relation to the email i got.

It looked like it was from the official paypal site but I don't know it says its just a routine random account checking thing.. but like i said only seems to appear when i click the email link..

I would only be a rare paypal user for the odd online purchase..

Think Ill message/contact the help centre on paypal before typing my details in anywhere..

    anyone got a similar email?

Nobody ever requests card details via email.

Well it wasn't directly in the email,.. the link i clicked on opened a window with a form requesting all my details.. card no/ex date etc etc

I'm assuming that's what you mean?

Paypal scam emails are very common.

    Why risk it?

If paypal really want to communicate with you they will do it inside your account, not by email. Tenner bet says that when you click on the link the address won't be authentic.

also just noticed email address is odd ... members@paypall ....(spelt with two l's)

I got one too, its a scam, but a very convincing one. It was saying there had been unusual activity on my account, there was no request in the email for information or activity other than clicking the link. I did not click on the link, but like you I opened my paypal account in a different window and when there was nothing there I concluded the original was a scam.

The email address of the sender was very close to the paypal address.

It is very frustrating that these scams are becoming increasingly convincing and you can waste several minutes trying to figure out whether to junk and block sender, or if it possibly could be worth investigating.

it's a spam or phishing attempt.

Forward the complete thing to spoof@paypal.com

Do not under any circumstances click on any link in the message, it didn't come from Paypal, and while it might end up going to paypal, it will be going via a keylogger site, which will compromise your logon and password security.

They are very common, and it's unlikely you have done anything to attract the attention of the spammer.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

If you clicked on the link in the mail, even if you then did not log in to Paypal once it got to the site, it is ESSENTIAL that you run a malware scan (malwarebytes anti malware or similar) on the machine before you use ANY secure payment sites, as it may have compromised your machine.

The Paypal site it eventually gets to is the genuine Paypal site, but in order to get to it, if you clicked on the link, you very likely have gone through an invisible keylogger site, and that keylogger site may well be capable of capturing and forwarding information from other secure sites as well, and will do so without showing anything on the screen.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

I dont know, guess I panicked or something, thinking it might have been important..

Have forwarded it on to that spoof@ email and I'm going to run a scan.

Im going to change my password too I think just to be safe

I would get up to date with it pretty quickly if you had any doubt this was a scam. If you are putting financial ifo online you need to have a good knowledge on how to protect yourself. Never ever ever click on links like that.

Avast is anti virus, so not really designed to sort out spyware issues, do a google search for Malwarebytes antimalware, there's a free download that will scan the machine and find anything that is not appropriate.

download and run that, and see what it finds.

Yes, that's the one I was thinking of, it will pick up if there's anything suspicious that's been added to your machine.
