    Hi, Guys.
    I just want some advises.
I'm working at the hotel also mother of two boys.
My husband is unempolyed but he is off from dole. He got a job offer abroad but diffrent story than what they're explaint to him so he didn't take it and he is staying other EU country and looking for a job at the moment.
I can't pay same much money to babysitter what I earned. so I would like to go on the dole.
Is that possible? or will they give me a panelty(no payment for 9wks)?
and how long people waiting for first paycheck?

Your husband needs to come back to take care of the kids. The dole should be a last resort.

I'm really sorry- but I have to echo Cara May's post.
Your husband needs to come back and take care of the children- or get a job and pay towards childcare.
The dole should not be viewed as a first port of call, for someone who is lucky enough to have a job- just because childcare is expensive.

Your husband needs to take some responsibility here- frankly I don't understand what the hell is happening?

I agree with Cara May and The Conductor. He needs to pull his socks up and get his a$$ back her and look after his kids or take a job and pay towards their care.

    Am I missing something here?

The way I read the OP's post is that:
    • OP works at hotel
    • OP's husband was unemployed here, went abroad on the promise of a job
    • job offer was bull****/fell through, so husband is still looking for work where he is

How is the OP's husband not taking responsibility??

Hi OP, will try to avoid the tone and judgement of some of the previous posters.

You will have a problem claiming Jobseekers Benefit (which is not the dole, its based on the PRSI contributions you have earned through working here) if you voluntarily leave a job. You are right that you can just be penalised if you have cause to leave. But even if you did pass that hurdle which is not likely in this case, you will have to be available and seeking employment to qualify. So if you quote that childcare issues are your reason for leaving your current position then they will question how you will be free to find another job if you can't afford childcare. Then you will be deemed 'not available and genuinely seeking employment'.

Hope that helps answer your question.

Maybe you could qualify for FIS. Family income supplement. It might help with cost of child care.

You may also be eligible for lone parent support (as your husband is away you are currently a lone parent) or FIS as previously suggested on top of your current wages.

Contact citizens advice who can help you work out what help you can get.
