Hi there, apologies, surely this has been posted before but does anyone have a solution to remove lime drops/ markings on car- parked it in underground car park and 2 tennis ball size markings on it which don't come off with soap & water- a recommendation of cleaning solution or decent -priced repair shop would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot

Try Cilit Bang Grime & Lime, has worked for me in the past

Could be risky using strong chemicals on the paintwork.
Lidl sell a liquid lime scale remover, but I'm not sure what materials it's safe to use on. Hopefully someone here will have expert advice.

    Just try this first
Get a cloth or a couple of cloths and soak them in Vinegar. ( White is supposed to be better )
Place them on the spots and let them soak into it.
See if that softens them enough to wash off.
Remember to thoroughly wash the surfaces after and give it a rub of polish/wax.

Do you know for sure what the actual stain is? Is it some form of lime, as in, dripped down from a concrete ceiling above? It's important and useful to know what you're dealing with before you tackle the job and of course, bearing in mind that you're working on your paintwork.

Hi, and thanks for the replies to all of you. Yes, Sogood, it is, dripped down from the ceiling in an underground car park. I've not parked there since but one of the cars that does continue to park in the spot is ruined, with bug markings in several places. I'm sure it can be fixed professionally for under €100 but there must be a solution. the markings look like watered-down milk and are very difficult to get off (the windscreen that it is, it does come off) but using elbow grease on the paintwork is not a good idea...i just rubbed wth soap and water when first noticed and this did nothing. I have seen one or two comments after a google search and some do say vinegar. I guess just hoping someone can say with certainty - there must be loads of cars with this problem in car parks. my car park space doesn't have this problem, i just got lazy and parked in a visitor's space which is closer! thanks again for responses.

Try WD40, worked for me.. Alloy wheel or Brake disk cleaner is supposed to be good also but its very corrosive

I'd go with wd40 first, then vinegar. For each, let soak properly and gently wipe.
    Wash, polish, drink coffee.

Not exactly sure of the name - but an OTC chemical cleaner available in motor factors, charged me €10 on top of other work I got done- key is sealing it once the mark is removed. Cheers
