    Hi all,

Got my results on Saturday and passed P2, I will however be resitting P1 which I was a bit surprised about. I am looking at doing P3 and P7 along with repeating P1 in June, would I be mad to do this?

Can anyone recommend where would be best to do P3 and P7 in Dublin City Centre? If I go ahead, I'm swaying towards Independent Colleges with Dave O'Donoghue and Shane O'Grady at present, but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks for any input on this!

Personally I'll be repeating P3 which I done with Shane last year and I'll be repeating with Owen in city colleges but a lot of people like shane and I would definitely recommend Shaun Browne in city colleges for P7, I passed it first time round with him.

I have had both Shane and Dave at Independent College and found them both excellent

    Hi,

Looking to sit F8 in June. I am based in Cork and was wondering do people have any suggestions as to where to study? Independent Colleges or Grifiith?

    Thanks

Shaun Braune , in city colleges is great - I did my F8 with him . He manages to make a boring subject very entertaining !! :)
    Would highly recommend him !!

I work full time, am living abroad (home study) and am planning a wedding for later this year. Looking at the calendar, I'll have about 6 weekends to study beforehand.

Only doable if you are a genius .........

I went to Umesh Rana in Griffith and passed with him in December. Id recommend him & his revision classes are very good.

I sat P5 last sitting and passsd it first time round. I found it a very doable paper once you do a lot of practice questions and understand what the examiner is looking for. And there is some cross over with P3 so if you've passed that one that is defintiely a help.

I have done P4 so I cant comment on it.

im going to be studying on my own from home as im working part time so cant go to a college. I would like to sit another exam as well.

    Hi All,

Just looking for a small bit of advice. I am repeating P7 in June 2014. I am living in Cork but was thinking of attending Shaun Browne classes in City Colleges Dublin.

I have sat P7 twice and on both occasions I have got 44% & 48% respectively.

I was wondering if people would think it be worth my while going to his classes or just to his revision course. I have heard great things about him as a lecturer.

    Thanks in advance.

I attended his classes and passed first time round. I found him very good, he really drills the info in with all his pop quiz's! When I was in his class there were people traveling from galway and cork every weekend for his classes and they thought it was well worth their time.

For a subject like Auditing i think there is to much emphasis put on the lecturer and not on yourself.. I passed P7 in December after failing the first time.. First time i studied i just knew all the information inside out but couldnt pass the exam as it was pointless couldnt answer the question properly.. Second time around i went over what i had learned previously and just did question upon question and what i found is practically the same questions come up all the time just worded in different way.. You can almost narrow it down to which type of risk will come up. .Guaranteed question parts on ethics.. Do the irish variant and you have reporting questions which is fairly obviously going to be marks on the layout as the report will be in the international lay out.. So wouldnt waste my time driving over and back for lectures who are going to portray the same notes you have in a different manner... All you have to do is drill yourself with questions until you're blue in the face and i guarantee you that you'll pass.. Problem is the volume of the syllabus means like myself you'll get bogged down on studying the material inside out.. There is no need.. Just go back to front on your exam question book you got in lectures .. Get mock exams from colleges and do the exam papers back to the date they have on the website..

The material misstatement question in december was nearly if not the exact same as a question id say two years previously. Thats clearly what passed me the exam.. What annoyed me as someone else had given me that advice the first time i did it and i ignored it thinking i knew better..

Study your notes first few weeks so you have a decent knowledge of the syllabus then questions and whatever you don't know after doing the question you can look it up after you complete it and i guarantee it will stick in your mind..

One thing though do the question out first without sneaking at the answer if you get stuck just complete it and then look.. otherwise you'll learn nothing.

Thanks guys for your reply's regarding P7

Taking advice on board I will brush up on text and do question questions questions and more questions.

Closer to the time then I will look at revision course with Shaun Browne to maybe fine tune technique.

    Advice much appreciated.

P4 is worth a look if you've a background in the markets, I'm not saying it's vital, but it'll certainly be a big help.
